Pre-Form is a gentle, playful transition into the rhythm of classroom life at The Grove. Our Pre-Form students will spend their day surrounded by good books, time in nature, movement, open-ended play, and creative hands-on activities. We’ll begin introducing simple habits like narrating back a story, attentiveness, and working together as a group.
Hopefully, these students cultivate habits that prepare them to step into formal lessons next year. This year is intended to give these students space to grow in all the ways that matter—learning to listen, share, wonder, and explore together!
This year at The Grove, Pre-Form students will spend the year exploring living books, elements of art, and preparing for their formal lessons that will begin the following year. Rich literature, hands-on activities, and time to engage beauty through art are the hallmarks of our preform class.
Students will have opportunities to hone the skills of narration and attentiveness through reading, re-telling, and interacting with weekly readings. We will explore story elements and narration through classic fairytales and Beatrix Potter stories.
Students will spend most of the year studying elements of art and exploring various mediums of art. We’ll end the year by enjoying the stories and works of Eric Carle and creating art inspired by his style.
The supply fee for each Pre-Form student is $60. This fee covers all activity supplies, art supplies, and any other needs the teachers come across for the classroom.
